Estimates for planning, not certification

These calculators are built carefully and published openly, but they are models. Using one is not a substitute for a component datasheet, a qualified electrician or your own judgement.

What this site is

MrScooty publishes free educational calculators and articles about electric scooters, e-bikes and electric vehicles. Everything is provided as-is for personal reference.

Accuracy and its limits

The formulas and constants behind each tool are published on the tool's own page so you can check them. They are drawn from standard vehicle dynamics, published lithium-ion charging behaviour and standard conductor data, and calibrated against measured consumption where possible.

They remain models. They cannot see your headwind, your tyre pressure, the true condition of your cells or how hard you accelerate. Results typically land within 10–15% in steady conditions and can be further out in unusual ones. Treat every output as a planning figure with a margin, not a specification.

Safety — the part that matters

Some of these tools touch genuinely hazardous work. Lithium battery construction, high-current wiring and motor modifications can cause fires, serious injury and death when done badly.

  • Verify any safety-critical figure against the manufacturer's datasheet before you build.
  • Wire sizing here assumes single conductors in free air with high-temperature insulation; bundled or enclosed runs must be derated.
  • If you are not confident working with lithium cells or high current, buy a finished assembly instead.
  • Local law decides what you may ride, where, and how fast — a calculator does not.

No professional advice

Nothing here is engineering certification, legal advice or financial advice. The cost and savings calculators compare energy prices that you supply; they are not a recommendation to buy any vehicle, and they exclude insurance, depreciation, maintenance and taxes.

No warranty and limitation of liability

The site and its tools are provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, anything published here — including damage to vehicles, batteries or property, and including decisions made on the basis of a calculated result.

Trademarks and independence

Product and manufacturer names — including scooter models and battery cell designations — are used for identification only and remain the property of their owners. MrScooty is independent, is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any manufacturer, and publishes no affiliate links.

Acceptable use

You may use these tools freely, including at work, and quote or link to the pages. Please do not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, republish substantial portions of the written content as your own, or present results as certified figures.

Changes

Tools get refined as better data arrives, so a coefficient may change and results may shift slightly. Material changes to these terms are reflected in the date above. Questions go to hello@mrscooty.com.
