Xiaomi M365 PRO is quickly taking the place of the classic Xiaomi M365 Mija. Compared to its predecessor, the PRO edition features a bigger battery, better brakes, and a modern dashboard. The Xiaomi M365 Pro, also called the Mijia Pro, is an upgraded version of the venerable Xiaomi M365, the world’s most popular entry-level scooter. Though it looks nearly identical to the original, the Pro is slightly larger all around and now has a bright LED information display built-in. The larger size affords more room on the deck, making the scooter more comfortable, and providing extra space to pack in a 474-watt hour battery pack.
Thus, the larger battery pack gives the M365 Pro a remarkable 40.4-kilometer range during our tests. The more powerful 300 W motor (600 W peak) resulted in a quick 5.3 second 0 to 24 km-h acceleration time and a 15.6 second 60 m, 10% grade hill climb time. The new information display addresses the essentials: speed, battery capacity, mode, lights, Bluetooth connection, and error status. Much of the original M365 design, including the accelerator, tires, brakes, and folding-mechanism, remains the same.
The best part is that the PRO version isn’t that much more expensive than the former M365. Priced USD 537, the Xiaomi M365 PRO is one of the most interesting scooters of the year.
Xiaomi Mijia M365 Pro Detailed Review
Best fit for your kid or not
This electric scooter is most certainly aimed at teens and adults with experience riding. With a recommended height of 120-200 cm and no height adjustment, smaller children under the age of 10 will have a tough time trying to ride it. However, whilst the maximum recommended weight of the stock model is at a relatively low 100 kg, the Pro takes it another step up with a maximum load of 120 kg.
I would recommend this scooter since it can be used either for entertainment purposes by riding this scooter on the roads or for commuting purposes.
Design and Features
The Xiaomi M365 Pro is a huge step up functionality wise. Aesthetically, both models are extremely similar; however, that’s not to say they’re not sleek and stylish. An amazing, bold black frame with striking red accents gives this scooter an awesome appearance. The Mi M365 Pro features bigger & better brakes, a bigger battery, and is fully folding and extremely lightweight. Thanks to these design choices, transporting and storing your electric scooter is simply a breeze. The Mi M365 Pro also features an improved dashboard, displaying battery level, speed, and more; whereas before the stock model only had 4 lights to display data, which could only be accessed from your phone. Overall, this model looks exactly how you’d imagine a quality scooter to look, suitably shaped, stylish, and functional.
Build and Compactness
Build from aviation-grade aluminum alloy and weighing in at just 14.2 kg; the Xiaomi Mi M365 Pro is certainly one of the lighter e-scooters on the market. Further materials include rubber used for tires, deck, and handle grip. The overall assembly, fit and finish, packaging, and quality are excellent. This is reflected in parts that feel tightly assembled and mechanicals that moves smoothly. This scooter weighs in at 14 kgs and folds to a compact 112 centimeters by 43 centimeters x 48 centimeters. The folding-mechanism is fully functional which makes this scooter compact and portable as this can be taken anywhere without any hassle.
Speed, Range, and Battery backup
The speed & power of the Xiaomi M365 Pro is strikingly similar to the stock model. However, the distance offered and build quality sets this model apart, offering an additional 10 miles to its 45 km range compared to the default model. It can achieve a maximum speed of 15.5 mp/h (25 km/h). The battery in the pro model delivers the power of 474 Wh and has a range of around 40.4-kilometers. Considering its 14 kg weight, the M365 Pro has the best range per weight of any scooter we’ve tested thus far.
The range is about 70% more than the original, which was already quite good. Keep in mind that we range test all scooters on the same urban track, which has many stops, hills, and rough terrain. The ride is designed to simulate a real, fast urban commute. As a high-quality lithium-ion battery, users should expect an average of 500-1000 charges before any problems arise, if they should. Even using and charging the battery daily, it should still last around 2-3 years minimum.
3-speed modes
The scooter has three modes, which limit top speed to 14 kmh (Eco), 19 kmh (Standard), and 26 kmh (Sport). The display dims when lights are turned on to be more adapted for night riding.
Battery protection & safety
Xiaomi places high importance on the safety of its riders and the protection of electrical circuitry. To attest to this, the Xiaomi Mi M365 Pro features 6 battery and circuity protections implemented, including:
- Short circuit protection
- Overcurrent protection
- Double overcharge protection
- Double over-discharge protection
- Temperature exception protection
- Under voltage automatic sleep
Braking and Ride Quality
The scooter has front regenerative brakes and a rear mechanical disc brake. Both braking systems are activated by a single brake lever. Despite being cable-controlled, brake activation is smooth due to well-designed cable routing. The strength of the regenerative braking can be adjusted through the Bluetooth-connected app and is substantial when placed in the maximum setting.
The Xiaomi Pro is a nimble scooter thanks to its combination of reasonable weight, pneumatic tires, and geometry. Its tires have enough size and grip to keep you confidently in control. The deck is 5.1 cm longer and 1.0 cm wider than the original. The handlebars are 1.0 cm wider and 1.0 cm higher. Altogether, the upsized geometry gives the rider more comfort and stability than the original, and as a result ride quality becomes phenomenal.
Appearance, LED Display, and BT Connectivity
This is by far the best-looking scooter that company offers. Its a sleek, cohesive design, oozing a level of quality that the competitors fail to match. Though it looks nearly identical to the original, the Pro is slightly larger all around and now has a bright LED information display built-in. The larger size affords more room on the deck, making the scooter more comfortable.
The new information display addresses gripes that owners had about the original version. It shows the essentials: speed, battery capacity, mode, lights, Bluetooth connection, and error status. Much of the original M365 design, including the accelerator, tires, brakes, and folding-mechanism, remains the same.
Since Mi Pro is produced by a smartphone manufacturer (Xiaomi), so as you’d expect, this scooter is fully smartphone compatible. Choose your optimal settings and run diagnostics on your scooter via Bluetooth with the mobile app, available on both iOS and Android. From here, you can manage speed, check your battery level, track your ride history, run diagnostics, set cruise control, and much more.
Safety and smoothness on the road
Due to the comparatively low speed and power of the Mi M365 Pro, you may wonder how safe it is to ride on the road. But contrarily this model features both front and rear headlights to aid in ensuring you stay seen and safe, no matter the time. This variant also features the advanced brake system from the standard model, even further improved upon for this Mi M365 Pro model. Xiaomi’s patented kinetic braking system converts the force from braking into energy to boost your battery life. Alert pedestrians and rogue cyclists to your presence, thanks to the handy bell situated on the handlebars. Whilst this model is suitable for roadside use, we insist that you take extra precautions when riding at night, such as wearing a helmet and high visibility jacket.
Value for money
Yet its price is higher than M365 but the features it offers in this price range make this model a favorite for the scooter lovers. The Mi M365 Pro is IP54 waterproof rated, meaning that light rain and mild water jets will not damage electronics and circuitry. However, we don’t recommend testing it out or submerging your awesome new ride. You are gonna love this scooter as you no need to worry about the quality. It comes with a 12-months warranty which adds extra charm while buying this scooter.
