Razor e200 Electric Scooter Review

Since there are so many new toys being released nowadays, it can get a bit confusing trying to choose the best candidate for your kids. The one thing that you can be sure of is that your child will be happy with the gift, but since motorized toys are still very new to the market, it can be hard to find information about their specific E200 features. Some scooters look too menacing, others are meant for more daredevil children while others just don’t look appealing at all.

We know how hard it can be to find a reliable product, and how hard it can be to even find reliable information on something that you are not familiar with. That’s why we compiled a list of E200 features that will help give you a well-rounded view of the Razor E200 scooter. It’s one of the cheapest electric scooters, will give you 40 mins of run time and speeds up to 12 mph. If you don’t mind spending a bit more cash you can even get a removable seat letting you ride standing or sitting.

Is it best fit for your kid or not?

Razor company is one of the famous companies designing scooter for all ages. It is ideal for both boys and girls and versatile enough for kids aged 12 and above.

Razor scooters are well known for being fun to ride and the Razor E200 is no exception. Your kid will have a great time riding this scooter whether they are standing or sitting, thanks to the detachable seat.

I would recommend this scooter since it can be used either for spending leisure time by riding this scooter on the roads or parks but contrarily it can be used to commute to and from school.

Detailed review of Razor e200 Electric Scooter

Easy to assemble

This scooter comes with all the accessories to assemble up this scooter from parts to a single piece. Its manual is user friendly which helps to gather up the parts in no time. All Razor scooters require assembly. The Razor E200 will arrive 95% built, leaving you 3 easy things to set up.

2 things needed to set up this scooter

  1. Attaching the handlebars

This is incredibly easy to do and will only take you about 5 minutes. All the tools to do it come included.

  1. Pump up the tires

Again, this is very easy. It’s the same as pumping up a bicycle. Make sure you have a bicycle pump to hand for this step.

And yes you are ready to go for a ride.

Appearance of Scooter

With its bright, colorful, and vibrant design the E200 is ideal for any kid wanting an electric scooter to impress their classmates. The E200 also comes as a seated model. This model is called the E200S and is the same scooter as the E200 but with the addition of a removable seat making it an extremely versatile model with both the options.

Speed of E200

The Razor E200 will travel at speeds up to 12 mph. This isn’t the fastest electric scooter for kids but it will certainly entertain them as they wander around the neighborhood. After all, as a parent, you don’t want your kid to be able to ride at very high speeds, especially if it is their first electric scooter. Considering this scooter’s speed not too high this can be a secure and reliable scooter for your kid. Since the more will be the speed, the more will be chances of an accident.

Battery backup

Generally, you’ll be able to continuously ride the E200 for about 40 minutes. Just imagine how many times your kid could ride around the block on it. Unless you’re buying an electric scooter for an older teen I think the battery performance of the E200 is more than sufficient to ensure that your child has a decent amount of ride time.

An alternative for you to consider though is Xiaomi Mi Ultra-Lightweight which can run 18.6 miles.

Bearing Weights

It depends on how you want to ride it. If you ride it sitting down it will weigh 46 lbs. If you remove the seat and ride it standing, it weighs 42 lbs. The E200 isn’t the lightest electric scooter that I have gone through but not a lot of kids electric scooters are. Most Razor scooters for kids tend to weigh between 29 and 59 lbs. The lightest kids electric scooter that I have come across is the GoTrax Glider, weighing just 20 lbs. Because of the steel made of this scooter, this can bear up to 154lbs.

Foldability and compactness

Its weight, both seated and unseated, I wouldn’t expect your kid to be able to carry the E200 but really, do they need to carry it? I’d say not – especially if they are just using it for fun. Besides, it is easy enough for kids to rock the scooter back and forth to point it in the direction that they want to ride if, for example, they ended up facing a wall or some other immovable object.

You can, however, easily remove the seat and the handlebars to fit the scooter in your trunk if you are going on a day trip and want to take the scooter with you. With such ease and folding feature, it can be taken to any place by just folding it and placing at the back of your car trunk.

Specifications and Strength

It has a steel structure frame that allows it to withstand tough use and, as you would expect, wear and tear from your child riding the scooter and bumping it here and there. In addition to a range of 8 miles and a top speed of 12 mph, the Razor E200 also has the following specifications:

  • Ease to remove padded seat & seat post letting you switch from sitting to standing
  • Retractable kickstand
  • Simple to use twist-grip acceleration control
  • Brake on the handlebars
  • 8 inch, air-filled, pneumatic tires to help soften the ride

Safety

Whenever I review kids’ electric scooters I always like to highlight the speed at which they can travel. The faster the scooter, the more risk involved. Considering the Razor E200 has a mid-range speed of 12 mph I would consider it be safe for kids as some kids scooters can reach 15 mph and others, 18 mph! Of course, speed is only one factor when it comes to safety. Having a brake that will reliably slow the scooter down is essential.

The E200 goes one step further than just having a break, though. The motor will cut as soon as pressure is applied and the brake is engaged, meaning you can rest easy knowing that while your kid is out playing on their new electric scooter they can quickly stop it.

Value for money

It is an old model now so it comes at a very economical price of $239. Since it is an older model doesn’t mean it isn’t as good as the newer ones. All that changes between the models is speed and mileage. For example, the Razor E100 (the model before the E200), an electric scooter for kids between 8 and 12, has a top speed of 10 mph, a range of 5-7 miles, and costs $161.99. The Razor E300 (the model after the E200), has a top speed of 15 mph, a range of 10 miles, and costs $341.49. But the features of E200 make it completely reasonable in this price category.

Conclusion

Well, there is no doubt regarding the quality of the scooters manufactured by RAZOR but the difference of opinions comes when there is a race regarding the features of scooters. According to my opinion, I think the E200s is a better option because it serves as two scooters at the price of one due to the detachable seat option. But yes E200 is the cheapest scooter but yet it lacks some demanding features.
